About Redstar Maputi

My passion to grow corn (maize) started in Zimbabwe when my mother gave me five seeds to plant when I was in primary school. Over the years the desire to raise more corn became a necessity because I had to provide for a bigger family and to meet the community needs.

When I moved to the United States some few years ago that inner feeling to grow corn and engage the community motivated me to follow my passion. For the past six years I have been raising white corn in Wayne County in Ohio, but I did not know what to do with the bumper harvests until I thought of making corn meal / mealie meal that I grew up eating in rural Zimbabwe.

The affirming comments from family and friends that tasted our corn meal motivated me to start producing corn meal on a commercial scale.
